Do Spotify and YouTube help kerb music piracy?

A couple of interesting articles courtesy of Techcrunch and TorrentFreak debating whether it is possible to compete with free. Digital music services such as Spotify and YouTube have grown in popularity, and surely access to a vast catalogue of music that can be tuned into for free has to be an easier option than resorting to piracy?
