Industry calls out for more legal download services

If there is to be any chance of eliminating, or at least greatly reducing illegal downloading then there needs to be more great new legal download services to entice the music lovers out there. Currently, iTunes pretty much dominates that area and there is a distinct lack of competition on the horizon. Speaking recently at The Great Escape the vice president of digital at Universal Music Group suggested that the major label would be reluctant to replicate the legal download platforms currently available, and this has caused a little bit of a backlash from some of the key music industry organisations.

Organisations such as BPI, UK Music and Musicians' Union have fought hard to implement the Digital Economy Bill, however the bill will struggle to reach its full effect if more legal download services are not introduced to the market. Let's hope this doesn't become the case!
