SoundCloud's new partnership not good news for remixers
News: 22nd April 2015 by Louise Dodgson under Recording & Production, Selling & Distributing Your Music

A couple of weeks ago SoundCloud unveiled details of a new partnership they have struck with Zefr, a company which scans services such as YouTube to detect copyright infringement. On the surface, this may sound like a good idea and demonstrates that SoundCloud are protecting rightsholders.
However, just a week in and the true fallout of what this means has become apparent as many SoundCloud users have been contacted to advise that mixes, mash-ups and remixes they have created and uploaded to their profile have been taken down. This has obviously stirred up quite a bit of annoyance amongst the remixers & so on who were fans of the platform, but it seems despite fair use uploads being used, for now SoundCloud do have the right to remove these mixes.
