Knowledge is power, so arm yourself with some top advice from the Manchester bands who are leading the way…
This week, the city’s favourite troubadour Liam Frost shares his top tips.

Have you found the Manchester music scene supportive?
The Manchester music scene has always been made up of a network of friendly people. There are exceptions of course, but these people are often sussed out and avoided, I think...
Personally, I've never had any big problems and feel like I've been well supported by those around me. It's a lovely position to be in.
What’s your top tip for bands trying to make in this city and beyond?
Keep writing, and keep going out and playing shows; it sounds like the most obvious advice, I know, but that’s how it worked for me.
If you're active, then more and more people will see you and hear your songs; if you keep writing, then the songs should hopefully get better as you find out what works and what doesn't. Hopefully as the songs get better, and more and more people start to see you, then you might start making a bit more of a name for yourself.
There's definitely a lot of luck involved in all of this as well though. Get out there and do stuff!
What’s next for you?
I'm writing my third album, and looking at starting something new with some other friends - a band; it gets boring doing all this stuff by myself!
